In this article I'll talk about how I normally do my shoe shopping while in Japan. I'll also talk about websites that easily ship to Japan (Not Amazon).
At first, I bought some Bear Paw boots from Amazon. They were only 50 dollars, so I thought what the heck. What the heck indeed. After the shipping cost and the import fees, those babies came up to 100, yes ONE HUNDRED dollars. Twice the price that I would have paid if I was living in the US. And how long did they least me? They lasted me one freaking winter. They were a piece of crap. That's why I decided to buy the men's UGGs the next winter. Unfortunately for me, that winter, there was a snowstorm, and I had to trek my way through it to go to work. Those boots got ruined as well. But yes, I did still wear them. By the way, I bought my UGGs from Rakuten. I also bought some tennis shoes from there as well. Of course, the tennis shoes were also men’s.
Anyway, back to where I could get feminine shoes in Japan, with my big feet. I was going to buy them online from my FAVORITE store from when I was back home. That store is GoJane.com HOWEVER, their shipping to Japan is 40 dollars, and I'm not willing to pay that. I wasn't sure what to do. I asked my friend, in which I worked with at the time, where does she buy her shoes. She told me ASOS. ASOS!!! I haven't looked back ever since. I love love love ASOS. I wear a size 10.5. I know it's big. It's even big in the US. A lot of those online stores like GoJane, rarely ever carry a size 11... And finding a size 10.5 is out of the question. Therefore, I would look for 11, but nope!! They didn't have it, or that size was simply sold out. But since ASOS is based in the UK, their sizes fit a little bigger than US sizes. I can buy a UK size 10, and a lot of times they will fit me! I was extremely excited to find ASOS, especially since their shipping to Japan is...FREE. There ARE times that you have to pay an import fee. To be honest, you won’t necessarily know about the fee until it's delivered, just an FYI. I can't remember which items that I had to pay that extra fee for, but it's not all the time.
Recently, I wanted to buy some boots, specifically Doc Marten's. I found them on ASOS, but I'm not sure why I didn't want to buy them there. Sometimes ASOS UK and ASOS US prices are different, and it annoys me. I often see items sold cheaper on the US site than on the UK site. So, I wanted to find a cheaper place to buy them. I was about to buy them on a site called Dolls Kill. They were the price I was looking for, and shipping was also free 99. That's my favorite price, so I purchased them. When they arrived, I did have to pay about fifty dollars in import fees though. Which probably would have also happened if I bought them from ASOS. Just know that there ARE options if you have big feet in Japan. You may be able to find some bigger sizes in Tokyo at H&M also, so keep that in mind. Good luck on your hunt for the perfect shoes!!!
