Coronavirus Update- Living in Japan
Today I'll give a few updates regarding the coronavirus in Asia.

Schools in Japan

Schools in Japan
Last week Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared that all public schools should be closed. This includes elementary school, junior high school, and high school. My friend's husband goes to university here in Japan. The university will be cancelled as well. Public schools will be cancelled until the end of March. And after that the kids will have their normal Spring vacation.
I work at a nursery. As far as I know, the nurseries around the country WILL NOT close. Yes, it's quite strange considering that babies are more susceptible to viruses. But they will remain open. My husband said that the Prime Minister emphasized PUBLIC schools. I guess the government can't tell private institutions what they should do. Which I honestly think it's a mistake and it's putting a lot of kids at risk. But who am I to say, I guess? So private schools, and nurseries will remain open for the most part. It’s up to the owners of the institutions to decide whether they will close or not due to the virus.
Don’t ger me wrong, I am happy that I'm not out of a job quite yet. But at the same time, I'm worried about the children still going to school and risking their health. I suppose the parents can decide on whether to allow their children to stay home or not. However, knowing Japanese people, there will be lots of kids still at the schools that are still open. I’ll give an update to the school situation when I know more.

South Korea

South Korea
The number of cases of the coronavirus in South Korea has skyrocketed. Now, there's more than 1,000 cases. South Korea now has the second most infected individuals outside of China. I heard that a woman who goes to a cult-like church in South Korea went to a service. The service supposedly had a bunch of people, and that's how the outbreak initially began.
I saw that the Philippines won't allow their citizens to travel to South Korea anymore. Also, Japan will not allow South Korean citizens to enter the country.

Singapore

Singapore
I saw an interesting case in Singapore. I guess a Chinese man who had permanent residence in Singapore was ordered not to travel or something or other. They told him not to travel for 14 days because he had been to China. I guess he ignored the order and tried to travel somewhere using an airplane.
He was caught of course, and they told him that he would face the consequences. He had to renew his permanent residence status, and he was REJECTED. He had been living in Singapore for around ten years. That's quite sad, but he should have stayed where he was.

Update in Japan

Update in Japan
There are currently around 15 cases in Hokkaido. The island where I live now has one case. There was a woman from the Princess Diamond cruise ship. I guess she had tested negative before departing Yokohama, but she has now started to develop symptoms. She had ridden an airplane, taken a train, a bus, and a taxi. God only knows how many people she has infected so far. As for the Olympics, I heard they will wait to see how the next few weeks pan out. If there are still lots of outbreaks of the virus, then they will have to cancel.
There is also a woman who has the virus AGAIN. She was a tour guide to tourist from China. She contracted the virus in January. She was cured and released from the hospital in February. She now has tested positive for the coronavirus yet again. I didn't know that it was a virus that could be reoccurring. I thought if you got it and you were cured, that you could build up an immunity to the virus. Well, that's not true. So even if you do survive the virus the first time, you better hope that you can survive the second, third, and fourth time.
I hope I'm not scaring anyone. I just want to remind people to be safe and to be careful. It's quite a weapon that China has unleashed onto the world. And Lord only knows how many fatalities this virus will have. It is now a Pandemic so please stay where you are.

Good luck on staying healthy and beating this virus!
