Being An Above Average Height Woman in Japan and Buying Clothes
In this article, I'll talk about how I shop for clothes while living in Japan.

Regarding the average height in Japan, please check this:

My First Year Was Perfectly Fine

My First Year Was Perfectly Fine
I am a little above average when it comes to height for women in the US. So, you can just imagine how tall I am in Japan. I'm not that tall, but in Japan, I'm the same height as most men. Therefore, finding clothes here, that fit properly, can be a bit of a headache. My first year in Japan, I didn't really want, or nee to shop much. I had bought a TON of clothes before coming to Japan, so I was all set. I did buy a few shirts from Forever 21, but that's really it. Unfortunately, after one year, I had already gained weight...I wasn't sure where to buy new clothes.
In Japan, women are short, and VERY skinny... AKA petite. I needed new jeans, pants, shirts, but I didn't know which store to look at. There is H&M, but I don't like their jeans, so I turned to online again. I looked at Go Jane, but the shipping price to Japan is outlandish, so I had to look elsewhere. At the time I didn't know about ASOS, so I had to do research.

What the Heck is Fashion Nova

What the Heck is Fashion Nova
Luckily for me, at that time, Fashion Nova was becoming more popular. I had looked at YouTube videos of people saying how much they LOVED their Fashion Nova jeans. I went to the website to see the shipping price to Japan. It was 10 dollars!!! I couldn't believe it, I ordered them babies so fast. I haven't looked back since. I LOVE Fashion Nova's jeans. They sometimes have cute shirts, shorts, shoes, and dresses. HOWEVER, a lot of their tops are not my style. I feel like they are a bit too revealing, ESPECIALLY with me living in Japan. FYI, since my first time ordering from Fashion Nova, the shipping has gone up. It went from 10 dollars to 15, which still isn’t bad, so I continue to order.

Where do I Buy My Tops

Where do I Buy My Tops
Truthfully, you could buy some really cute tops in Japan. I can fit some shirts; the sleeves aren't usually a problem because they like oversized clothes. BUT I found clothes in Japan to be VERY expensive. I wanted to buy a skirt, and it cost 200 DOLLARS!!! I ended up getting a "cheaper" one for about 70 dollars. But I had to lose weight for it to fit properly. I'm not about spending that much money all the time because I'm a shopper, I love to shop. I like getting a "deal" if you will. I feel that sometimes even H&M can be expensive. They do have Uniqlo, but I feel as though the clothes don’t fit me properly enough, and I can find the same style for cheaper online. So, instead of shopping in Japan, I use a site called SheIn. It's a clothes site based in China, and it's quite popular so you don't need to worry THAT MUCH about the quality. But I would still look at the reviews just in case. They're based in China, so the shipping to Japan is not expensive at all. However, lately I haven't liked shopping there because of the fabric. I've been more into cotton lately, and my skin is starting to get irritated with the synthetic fabrics.

Where will I Shop Now?

Where will I Shop Now?
I'll continue to buy my jeans from Fashion Nova... For now. But I think from now on, I'll buy my shirts from ASOS. ASOS is a bit more pricey, BUT I love the quality of their clothes. They also sometimes have sales, so that's a plus. And their winter clothes, for me, are the absolutely best. I did fail to mention that SheIn DOES put what fabric each item is made from, so that's also a plus for them. However, I found that finding something made of only cotton is quite rare, but I could be wrong. So anyway, my holy Grail would definitely be ASOS. They sale clothes, shoes, jeans, coats, make-up… Basically, any and everything you need. And the shipping is free 99 (over 20 dollars). It can't be beat. Just be careful with those import fees, and you'll be fine.
