My Ever-changing Streaming Services

In this article I'll talk about what streaming services I currently have in Japan.

U-Next

U-Next
Okay, so the last time I had an update on my streaming services, I said that U-Next was THE BEST streaming service in Japan. It is a pretty great service I'll admit, but the price on the other hand is not so great.

They do have a lot of old movies that I love and adore, however, it's like Amazon Prime. Not everything is free with the service, and I didn't want to have to pay extra, ON TOP of the already 2,000 yen ($20.00) I was already paying. Like really, what is that?  It's the most expensive streaming service I've seen to date, and they have the audacity to want me to pay EXTRA for new movies and shows?? I think absolutely not.

U-Next is the only streaming service that has all the seasons of the X-files, but to be honest, I only kept it for one month. It didn't have anything particularly special, and I only watched a few things. If I'm paying that much, it should have every dang thing.

Also, even though it says you can stream unlimited, there was a set number of hours you can watch. Even if I don't watch that many hours, no other streaming service has such limits. I kept asking myself, what in the world am I paying all this money for. So, I nixed it. However, if you can get the first month free, I would try it. I think it’s like Disney though and you need to have a credit card to get a free month. Which is of course a load of crap. But if you can try it out, why not?

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime

I have also cancelled my Amazon Prime account. The reason was because they got rid of my favorite show on there, which is Curb Your Enthusiasm. It's no longer on Amazon starting this year. Truthfully, it was one of the only shows I watched on there.

They have the Closer, but I feel there's only so much of that show you can. That’s why I had to let it go. It wasn’t worth it in regard to shipping because I don't have anything to buy at the moment. Therefore, it had to go. It’s nothing special.

Hulu Japan

Hulu Japan

Okay, okay, so I made a big deal about how much I hated Hulu, and how boring it was. But I have it AGAIN. There's a very good reason though LOL. I saw that they added the Office US. I LOOOOVE the Office. It cracks me up. Hulu only has two seasons though, unfortunately.

They also added Monk, Burn Notice, and Roswell. I actually started watching Roswell, but I'm on a hiatus now. It got weird for me in the second season. But I like the old USA shows. It feels very nostalgic. So, I'll keep Hulu a bit. But I'm not sure how long.

It’s quite silly, but I also started to watch the Jersey Shore again on there. I forgot how fully and ridiculous it was. I was on a reality show kick, and that’s why I started watching it. They have a few reality shows on Hulu. It’s enough to keep you entertained for a while.

Netflix

Netflix

Netflix, Netflix, Netflix. My relationship with Netflix is very complicated. IF I WAS paying for Netflix, it would have BEEN cut off. However, I'm not paying for it, so I check to see what they have every now and then.

Yes, I hate Netflix for that Cuties BS. And I do mean HATE. I'm not proud of it, but I still watch it…literally every once in a blue moon. I haven't watch Netflix for months. I'm not interested in anything they had to offer.

They did add the new season of Archer though. That show is my guilty pleasure. I love that show. They also happened to add the Office US, and they have three seasons instead of two like Hulu. So, unfortunately, I watched those shows. But after that, I haven’t watched that awful Netflix.

Netflix has also risen their price. Not to mention, I heard that they’re going to try to crack down on account sharing. They can go right ahead, because I would never pay Netflix a cent of my hard-earned money. I wouldn't recommend you to get Netflix if you don't have it already. I can't in good conscience tell you to support such a company.

If you're wondering, yes, I have already spoken to my family and my mom about cancelling Netflix. But my family doesn't want to... Sigh. Anyways, don't get it if you don't already have it. There's no point.

In Conclusion

In Conclusion

I'm really starting to think that if you can, you’re better off streaming. It’s free, somewhat legal, and you can watch whatever you want. I don’t see the point of streaming services anymore. I feel like they’re a waste of money, and they rarely have shows that people actually like. Welp, I guess that’s just the way it is. I hope this article helps you to pick a great streaming service. Good luck. Until next time!
