Halloween 2016 at the Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, Japan
In this article I'll talk about my very first time celebrating Halloween in Japan.

Halloween at The Shibuya Crossing

Halloween at The Shibuya Crossing
Ever since I have lived in Japan, I've had interesting Halloweens. My first Halloween in Japan, I of course went to Shibuya. For me it was really nothing special. I got dressed up, went on the train, and walked around Shibuya with some friends. It was a SIGHT to see for the first time. I wouldn't have imagined so many people being there. There was a ton of people dressed up. Not only were they dressed up, they also were driving around bumping music as loudly as they could.

People, People Everywhere

People, People Everywhere
There was a TON of people just drinking. There were people drinking outside because of course you can drink outside in Japan. We wanted to drink when we got there, so we decided to go to the 7/11. Which I guess was everyone's plan. The line wrapped around the whole store; it was insane. But what was even more insane was the amount of trash that was everywhere. Okay, so Shibuya IS in Tokyo, and Shibuya is a big city. But I have NEVER, not had I ever since that day, seen as much trash. There were alcohol bottles riddled EVERYWHERE. Truth is that Japan doesn't have trash cans on the street like most places. You can usually find a trash can in designated areas, such as the convenience store. Sometimes I have even walked into a restroom to find a trashcan, only to be disappointed lol. But anyway, that's what probably contributed to the account of trash I saw. Of course, no one wants to walk around with a bunch of glass bottles, do they put them down.

Something Spectacular!!?

Hanabi
No. Not for me anyway. For me, the trash was the only shocking part. It was more like a big, never ending parade. I didn't actually think it was all that fun. It was my first and last time going to the Shibuya crossing for Halloween. I do remember that year was the year of Harley Quinn. So we saw a BUNCH of Harley Quinn costumes that were all on a different scale of slutty. Jane wore a Harley Costume as well. Hers was on the higher scale of slutty, and a lot of people wanted to take pictures with her. Jane is that type of girl. She likes a lot of attention, so of course she loved every second of it. I’ll talk a little bit about my relationship with Jane in another article. Jane parted with us that night to go see her “boyfriend” at the time. But afterwards we all stayed together, and what I really remember from that night was going to bar. After everything was said and done at the crossing, my friends and I had to kill more time before catching the first train. We all went to a bar that was really chill and fun, we just talked. We complained about my company at the time... The one with the crazy manager. There was a girl there who worked for my company but had moved on. She told us that life in Japan isn't like what is was at that job. She said there are other jobs, and it can get better. She gave all of us hope. My other friends worked at the other branches of the company. They ALL had bad experiences with their managers. Therefore, we all needed a pick-me-up. It’s hard being in a different country and not really knowing if what you’re experiencing is normal or not. So, it was nice to hear that it was certainly NOT normal, and that other companies will treat you at least somewhat decently.

The Morning After

The Morning After
We all had a great time that night regardless of what was going on at work. I made it home from the train and went to the convenience store. It was around five in the morning, and I always forgot to get a basket when I went it. I normally just packed everything on my chest and arms. That morning, a cashier grabbed the things from my arms, while also "accidentally" touching my boob. I was NOT happy about that, but I was too tired to say anything. I never went during that time again.
